When to Use Milkmaster:

During pregnancy a cow is having to eat enough to grow out a calf and uterus, develop the mammary gland and fill it with colostrum. During the last three months before calving, unless feed is superb, nutrition is usually inadequate. In the last 6 weeks, no matter how good the feed, ingested nutrients do not meet requirements.

It is during this time that the greatest drain on the cow's reserves occur. Lactation puts even greater demands on the cow. Requirements for nutrients are twice those of a dry cow . The nutrients which are most difficult for the cow to obtain in sufficient quantities are protein and calcium. Protein availability is limited by rumen bacteria mass. By-pass protein can be available to each cow (not overstocked) and rumen fermentation should be optimal. There is no room for any deficiency of a nutrient which will reduce rumen efficiency.

Milkmaster should be supplemented during the 1st & 2nd trimester of pregnancy to help maintain condition and 12 weeks post-birth to maintain milk production for fast growth of the offspring. PEAK 50, the protein block fed for the last thrid of pregnancy and the first 12 weeks of lactation, ensures that fermentation in the rumen provides the protein and energy ration from the feed to meet the needs of early lactation.
