Consumption Guide:
Daily requirements
of electrolytes in a 500kg working horse have been examined and
they were found to require more than previously thought. DYNAMYTE
is the Equine Electrolyte Supplement that Olsson's recommends for
working horses.
Pony/Galloway:
50-300g/day
Hack/Thoroughbred:
100-500g/day
Warmblood: 200-600g/day

When
to Use Dynamyte:
In living animals the compounds called electrolytes and water are
intimately associated in the body to provide the correct environment
to enable life and activity to occur. The major electrolytes found
in various concentrations in the blood are sodium, potassium, calcium,
magnesium, chloride, phosphates, and bicarbonate. Sodium, potassium
and chloride in the correct concentrations are vital in maintaining
the integrity of the physiological and biochemical processes within
the cells and alterations in their concentrations within the animals
body can upset delicate balances and may impair performance or lead
to clinical disease. The horse's main source of obtaining these
electrolytes daily is normally from the feed, but with intense or
prolonged exercise the demand for the electrolytes often cannot
be met from this source alone. If prolonged exercise is also accompanied
by stressful training episodes or if heat and humidity are also
excessive, then a serious shortfall can occur and outside supplementation
is needed. Prolonged sweating under rugs creates a micro-climate
that approximates to that encountered in the tropics even in temperate
areas.
