How We Make Our Salt
At Olsson’s Salt, we make our sea salt in the Spencer Gulf in South Australia. To begin, we store natural seawater in primary ponds which house an abundance of micro-organisms essential for filtering and naturally cleaning the water. The sea water is then evaporated in successive ponds and left to crystallise in “crystalliser pans”. Once harvested, the sea salt is washed and dried naturally in the sun before being packaged.
